Flexible Funding

We currently offer 15 government funded hours per week for all 3 and 4 years olds (starting the term AFTER they turn 3 years old) as well as 15 government funded hours for 2 year olds for those families entitled to the Free Early Education for Two Year Olds (FEET). Please visit https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/people-and-community/family-information-service/choosing-childcare-for-children-and-young-people/paying-for-childcare to read about the eligibility criteria.

“Free Early Education for 2 year olds (FEET) is a government initiative that funds 15 hours of early education for 2 year old children who would benefit most from early access to childcare.
Free Early Education for 3 and 4 year olds enables all parents to access up to 15 hours of funded early education a week for their child”
(2013, Surrey County Council)

Both of these initiatives ensure that every child can receive some free access to preschools and nurseries from at least 3 years old, and in some cases, from 2 years old.

Parents and carers can use their free 15 hours for their 2, 3 and 4 years olds on a flexible basis across the week. We offer 8 x 3 hour sessions over the course of a week (5 x morning sessions and 3 x afternoon sessions) and parents can use their entitlement flexibly, choosing any 5 of these 3 hours sessions for their child. (This is subject to our preschool claiming the full 15 hours for a child. If a child is attending another preschool or nursery, the funding may be split between the two or more settings).

Parents will need to complete a form, once entitlement has been confirmed, detailing which sessions their child will be attending and claiming for.

As of September 2017 we will also be offering the 30 hours free childcare (also know as +15 hours free childcare) for 3 to 4 years olds. For further information on this funding, please visit the following sites;

If you have any further questions about the funding, please do not hesitate to contact us.
